Productive Civil Discussion
Just because someone doesn’t agree with how you're doing something; doesn't mean they disagree with the goal of the project as a whole. It's not fighting or “bickering” to have a different opinion or idea and to discuss it. You should be able to disagree while having a civil discussion. Not agreeing doesn't mean it's fighting, stop treating it like an absolute.
For example, we all want national security, but if your idea is to fling bombs in a giant slingshot, we’re going to disagree with you in favor of a more logical, more efficient, and less self-destructive plan that makes more sense and is more financially responsible too. We don't need a plan that just soundsgood, it has to work well in the long run without destroying ourselves. But not agreeing to your plan DOESN'T mean we don't want national security at all.
This is obviously being facetious on purpose, but hope you get the point.
Morrisville has a Council of 8 for a reason. Different thoughts, ideas, and opinions are not the enemy of progress. It's why our system of government exists. Otherwise, if you're always going to just agree without any ideas of your own, why be there in the first place? If that's what you're going to always do, you might as well just be a council of 1, because you're acting that way already.
Not agreeing doesn't equal arguing. If you treat every form of dissent as an enemy, you're a tyrant, not a democracy. This is America, may democracy reign free.
