Morrisville Voters are Smarter Than Some Might Think
Let’s be truthful here…
The town talks between the mayor and current Council president and the recent mass mailing of the glossy, multi-page brochure are not for the benefit of the residents of Morrisville nor an attempt to have an open and honest dialogue about what is happening in our Borough—they are naked campaign ads.
These first-ever talks and mailing are just two political candidates and their allies using town resources and influence to distort and present more lies about their attempted takeover of Morrisville. These two candidates are registered Democrats, one an apparently a reformed Republican who ran in several races as a Republican and lost. After changing her party to a Democrat, she was able to secure a win because of the power of the Democratic name. If the mayor and president were sincere about their interest in the town and not just political power, they would engage in a conversation with those who disagree with many of their claims and would listen to residents’ ideas and input on various issues impacting our Borough. Why did they not invite others to engage in a real dialogue about the direction of the town? Could it be that they want to avoid any criticism that will hurt their election chances and that might shed some light on their questionable behind-the-scenes decisions, so no one can challenge them in a public setting or face a real opponent?
The mayor and the president must feel that the residents of Morrisville are not smart enough to see through their tactics. Why don’t they come out from behind their controlled camera setting and have a real talk with the opposition? The videos and mailing (which cost over $8K) smack of corruption and abuse of Borough resources. It is curious that both the mailing and the “video talks” occurred just before an election in which they are both candidates.
Why, of all things to go after in the town, would they choose the library and our children’s programs in their second video? Could it be because their opponents have raised underfunding the library as an issue? We have many young people with small children moving into our town, and the library is a vital resource for them.
These thinly veiled political moves a few days before an election should outrage every voter in Morrisville.
