In this episode of Your Voice, Our Morrisville, host Amy is joined by Council members Shawn Ratti, Debby Colgan and Peggy Walsh to discuss the key issues, debates, and developments from the May 2026 Borough Council meeting.

The conversation begins with a look at the many community events that brought residents together over Memorial Day weekend, including Summerseat's successful celebrations, historical reenactments, and community gathering following the annual parade and cemetery ceremony.

The panel then turns to several important issues discussed at Council. Topics include the appointment of two new Library Board members, ongoing concerns about the search for a new Library Director and the future of one of Morrisville's most valued community institutions. The group also discusses questions surrounding the library job posting, state funding requirements and the importance of maintaining strong library services for residents.

Additional discussion focuses on efforts to ensure accuracy and transparency in Borough records, Council meeting minutes and access to financial information. The council members share their perspective on the importance of accountability, fiscal oversight and providing elected officials and residents with a clear picture of the Borough's financial position.

The episode also explores the challenges of collaboration within local government, including agenda-setting, opportunities for Council discussion and differing views on how decisions should be made on behalf of the community.

As always, the conversation concludes on a positive note, highlighting the approval of a new mural project at Williamson Park, support for the upcoming Jazz Fest and the success of the Purple Martin House initiative along the levee. These projects demonstrate the creativity, volunteer spirit, and community pride that continue to make Morrisville a special place to live.
